Is self sufficiency something that is rare of males beyond 70?

As a women who is half that age I like to know how to use power tools and am good at what was once “man jobs.”. My male peers know how to wash clothes, cook, even sew a bit. But some of these old men won’t lift a finger in domestic work and can’t work a toaster? Can you explain what the fear is? it’s generational for sure, but it seems helpless to me, at an age when self autonomy is really important.

Do you think our democracy should be more democratic? ?

I mean I have more choice in toilette roll than i do in political partys! I think we need more choice, and the people that represent us should represent our views and who we are (there are definitely not enough women in power for example). It seems to me that the our democracy isn’t a tool to allow change but rather a tool to keep things as they are. And I guess as the saying goes if voting ever changed anything they’d make it illegal?

you know , like a suzie homemaker. I enjoy it very much. Cooking, sewing, gardening. making your home so cozy……..If you make it yourself you have really good quality for a lot less money. I can’t make a suit, like my dad. I’ve made just about everything else. Curtains, pillows, costumes…
I learned how to change a tire, put snow chains on, change the oil, used power tools, hunted game, the occasional man..installed lights. I could have hired a man to do it, but I never did get fairness from a mechanic, so I did it myself.

I can’t imagine what means to be masculine. I don’t feel I’m less of a woman. Perhaps woman with a plus.

I need some advice considering my anime hobby?

Well. Ive liked animations and cartoons in general ever since being a little kid, once I reached into my teens, it became a hobby for me to persue and I learned a lot of terms that sprung from all of my online hobbies, eventually helping me rediscover my fondness for all things decently and artistically animated, I never actually learned the term ‘anime’ until I began browsing online and right off the bat I was swept into it by your typical mainstream shows like Naruto, Bleach and One Piece though I had some saving graces. Tenchi, Dragonball, Shaman King and shows of that nature from my venturings in the world of television. Now that I am at the age of 17 and taking art in college, Ive expanded it into more of a hobby from collecting the merchandise, to openly discussing it in public as an interest, to just spending a lot of my time watching/reading/playing things related to the genre.

Lately however, my somewhat semi-hermit persona has been getting stamped on by what I would like to call friends who all seem to be split up into different social groups and media, most notably music and what not.

My friends all want to become musicians and make it to the big time while I on the other hand simply want to sit in my room and perscue my fictional coloured fantasies at my beckon. Don’t get me wrong. I like going outside and meeting people just as much as the next guy but what I don’t like is being surrounded by closed minded idiots who can’t respect another persons interest to just accept them as another equal human being.

I get all of these.

And more aside, to be honest it’s starting to bother me just a little. I stay in my home and rarely venture out because I understand how dangerous and ignorant minded people are no matter how much they claim not to be and I know that I could with some effort, break through that wall of closed mindedness at the cost of my own well being and to be honest, I don’t want to go through all that trouble so what should I do?

Stick to my anime-paradise that I love everso much even though I might not have much of a social life because of it? Not that it bothers me.

Or.

Take up a popular hobby like music, learn how to half-assedly play an instrument, have no passion for it, fully understand it would never lead to anything big just for the sake of a shallow social life and a new girlfriend every few weeks?

Another question, is my interest within itself a respectable interest? I think so. It amuses kids everywhere, it amuses teens everywhere, it’s something that they enjoy, it’s also something you can learn things from, morals, art, cultures, etc.

C’mon………. who else here absolutely LOVES the Lion King movies?? I’m serious!?

I just finished (re)watching Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride. I fell in love all over again.

I mean, I’m a 21 year old woman, but I am just infactuated with all three of the movies. From the music to the colours to the animation to the comedic relief! Omgoodness, I died with laughter at the part just before the final battle when Zira says something like “I’ve been dreaming of only this for YEARS!”…….to which Timon replies “Wow, she really needs to get a hobby.” LMAOOO! There are so many jokes that cannot be intended for children alone.

Everything about these movies make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside right from the beginning to the end. You know, it’s so great to just forget all the hecticness of real life. Yet, the Lion King movies have so many life lessons.

I just really wanted to share this. DON’T YOU LOVE IT!?

Should I sell my house or rent it out while I’m overseas?

OK here’s the deal. I have a beautiful 3,000 square foot craftsman style home in a small Southern town. It has been on the market for 7 months now with no serious offers and very few viewers (this is a community-wide trend). I am preparing to enter the Peace Corps in July and will need to find a solution for my mortgage well before then.

My question is: should I keep the house on the market and hope it sells (I will be fully employed until May) or plan to rent out the house while I’m gone and start looking for a good property manager? In addition to the commitment of keeping the house, I am concerned about the upkeep of the house while I’m away and the cost to maintain the house and property. Ultimately, I’m afraid this beautiful, historic house will get trashed costing a lot of extra money to repair/prepare for selling at a later date.

A couple considerations:
1. I don’t plan to move back to this community upon returning from overseas.
2. A new hospital is currently being built which might drive new buyers into the area within the next few years.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

What would you name these kids?

okay so i downloaded firefox. i’ve been using firefox for a while, and all a sudden when i x’ed out my firefox and opened it again it wont go to websites, it wont even say page not displayed. it will just be blank. so i unstalled it and re stalled it and it worked when it was launched from the reinstal but when i x’ed it out again and opened it it showed blank. does anyone know how i can fix this????

I always hear that Fire fox is better than Internet Explorer and its faster safer ect….But what are the bad things about firefox?

I have asked several questions, and many of the replies suggest that I consider FIREFOX. I’m not sure what it is – probably a browser. Is it similar to Netscape and Internet Explorer? What are its good features and its bad features?

Are diy wedding invitations better than purchasing them?

I just want to hear opinions from people who have done one or the other. Does it work out cheaper to do it yourself or is it much easier to have one custom made for you?

My mom will be growing all of our wedding flowers and the bridesmaids and myself will be arranging them for the wedding. The wedding is on June 2nd. What type of flowers are mature around then? More specifically red and white flowers..

Anyone know of a good wholesale internet florist? For DIY wedding flowers?

I’m wanting to find a good place where I can order boxes of wedding flowers online for a wholesale price, and put them together myself.

There is not a Costco in my city or state. There IS a Sam’s club, but I’m not sure how their prices compare. I live in Oklahoma City, just FYI. That’s one of the reasons I was hoping I could order via the internet.
