Paul asks…

Looking for email or address to contact Wells Tower, a fantastic writer. Anybody heard of him???

Wells Tower’s writing has appeared in Paris Review, the Oxford American, Fence, and elsewhere. I first read his article in Outside Magazine about his trip with his father to Iceland/Greenland. I want to contact him, but cant find any contact info for him.

Mike answers:

Send all correspondences in care of his publisher/publishing house.

Donald asks…

Should I buy those Strength Training shoes that are seen in Eastbay and other sports magazines? ?

I’m on the fence about these shoes (you know, the red and black ones). Do they really work? Do can they really add 5-10, no more than that to your vert. leap. I really need to know. Basketball tryouts are approaching and my career may be in jeopardy. People who have tried the shoes only please!

Mike answers:

Http://www.jordanlines.com may become one of your opinions. Here, we offer plenty kinds of nike air jordan shoes.with low price and fast shipment.hope you will enjoy your shopping time.

More plans, can’t think right now.

keep in mind I’m keeping an A+ average the whole time
Am I weak in the Extracurriculars section? I think I am…
Say I got really good grades, and near perfect SAT scores, would that compensate?
oh yeah, all my classes (except for the ap) are honors level. last year and this year.
ba-bump-bump
10 points… anyone?
easy ten points for a decent opinion
thanks for your input, kk.

Mike answers:

Hahaha
ok so i got into MIT with only a 90 transcript
the reason is i was ranked 24 in the country for usamo
but rank 1 for ARML

those are national math tests by the way

so as long as you do extremely well in the science Olympiad ( my friend who was a physics Olympiad got into Harvard) you’ll probably get accepted.

Donna asks…

where do i get cheap fencing equipment?

i need fencing breaches, shoes, and mask and i need it to be cheap if anyone has a store, phone #, magazine, web address. it would help a lot.

the sport fencing not garden fencing

Mike answers:

Academy sports?…………..

Maria asks…

how do i know if i’m a good journalist or not?

i have always loved writing. and used to spend time just writing out little stories, or make little newspapers and magazines when i was little.

but school life and writing essays kind of drilled my creativity out of me as i had to stick by certain notes and so on.
i lik writing essays and critising something.
but don’t know if i have the passion for it, and journalists need to have an opinion in most cases, and i tend to have none, and sit on the fence alot.

how can i know if i am up for it?

anyone know about the career as a journalist?

Mike answers:

Curiosity
Strong writing skills
Creativity in presentation of a story, especially the lead
Willingness to work 10 to 12 hours a day on your first job
Being a people person with the love of the truth and an awareness of spin and self serving statements.
