It needs to be a cheap wood but a effective and strong one.
I dont know much about woods and how to make it waterproof and which woods are most suitable for outdoors.

CEDAR wood its weatherproof.thats why most are made of cedar.it very nice color anyways.

Jenny asks…
Who also enjoyed croquet, foreign films, expensive wine, debating politics with people who don’t really care and nipples?
HOW MUCH WOOD?

Croquet, expensive wine and foreign films are for rich people, and liberals do not like rich people, so therefore, the wood chuck would spend all of his time pondering how not to hate himself and starve to death.

I have a project where I need to weigh the amount of wood sanded. I need to get the most wood sanded off with the least amount of effort. My teacher said that balsa might work but that he wasn’t sure because there might be something better. He said that some soft woods just turn to “mush” when you try to sand them.
Does anyone know the best type of wood that’s not too expensive, does not require too much effort to sand, and loses the most wood shavings?
Also, what grain of sandpaper should be used with it?

Balsa wood would work…it weighs next to nothing.
Pine would be my next choice,it’s not as soft as balsa but still a little soft.
And you can use 60 grit or 80 grit and you can use a woodplane to take shavings off.

Donna asks…
I would like to put a piece of wood in one of my fish tanks, with an Oscar in it. I am planning on getting the wood from my backyard, because I have heard of people doing it before and the outcome is beautiful. But, I also know how the wood will turn the water a gross murky brown and I am a clean water fanatic. I know that you can keep the wood from doing that, but I don’t know how. So… do any of you?

Seal it with food grade polyurathene. You can get this at a paint store, just be very sure it’s food grade like for use on counter tops and chopping blocks. As an additional note, I wouldn’t use wood from the yard unless it was well sealed, it will simply rot over time and won’t take long to do it.
