I saw Full Metal Jacket last night and wondered if the Sergeant's representation is correct?

FMJ was established during the Vietnam era. It was an exact description of the times, and the DI is a Gen-You-Hoo-Rah Wine U.S. Marine Corps Drill Instructor in a previous life.
