Where can I find a round of 1 / 2 "+ rods high speed steel (not China). .. I just have to say 3-4 feet of it.?

im trying to make my own wood turning tools, because the price of FSS are crazy good. I am very good at machining and to do what is not problem at all, your booking the population that is the hard part. I bought a number of producers in China, but I doubt that I sold as a small order (IM looking not spend more like $ 50 – $ 60, even if only enough for 1 or 2 tools). Ive done my own rolled carbon steel that works well enough, one need only sharpened a lot.

I doubt you want to do any other tool high speed steel completely! For very long, you will not find hard. As HSS require high curing temperatures, there are no facilities to get to the heat of the "white" (almost the melting point) required. Welding It is much more economical to use carbon steel or steel, even minor, as an action, and either silver solder or a tip or insert into it. Hardened and ground for tools and pieces of various profiles of up to about 3-4 inches long are readily available from the engineering supply companies or traders of specialty steel. HSS can be arc welded to carbon steel or soft values using stainless steel bars. But in a more satisfactory is the silver solder to the population. HSS can be made red hot, without destroying its hardness or affecting his temper with a significant degree.
